In 2007, the chain opened up almost 500 new restaurants throughout South Africa, adding to the various international restaurants the company still has in India, Sweden, Egypt and many more countries around the world.Founded in 1930 and inspired by a character from the Popeye cartoons, the first Wimpy restaurant opened in the UK in 1954. Since then, Wimpy has grown to become one of Britain’s biggest fast food chains with almost 100 restaurants up and down the country.
Famous Brands, the company who currently own the Wimpy brand, approached us to roll out a new set of uniform clothing to be used and ordered by the individual franchises the company has. Due to the various franchises that have held the Wimpy name in the past, Famous Brands were concerned that the Wimpy identity would become diluted. As such, it was vitally important to them that the uniforms created by Workwear Express, contained a uniform and professional appearance that would reinforce the Wimpy brand image across all of their stores.
We worked with Wimpy to design a uniform that reflects the professional and stylish appearance which was a vital component in their initial brief. Once the design had been created, our in-house team produced the various shirts, aprons and other apparel that made up the Wimpy uniform selection. To aid in distribution, we put an ordering system in place especially for Wimpy, allowing the various franchises that the company has to place uniform orders when they required.
