WE are Workwear Express

Outstanding service has always been at the heart of Workwear Express.

When I think about Workwear Express, I always come back to people and service. Those two things have defined us since the very beginning.

In 1990, Workwear Express started with just a van, some work clothing, and the simple idea that businesses deserved quality gear delivered with care. Fast forward three and a half decades, and we have grown into the UK’s largest customised workwear provider, serving more than a million clients across more than one hundred countries. It has been an extraordinary journey, but our principles remain the same. Look after customers. Look after colleagues. The rest follows.

A major milestone came in 2021 when we became part of Bunzl plc. Bunzl is a FTSE 100 company, operating in more than 30 countries with multi-billion-pound annual revenues. They are a global leader in distribution and outsourcing. Being part of Bunzl has allowed us to invest more in technology, strengthen our supply chains, and accelerate our sustainability agenda. Most importantly, it gives our customers confidence. When you work with Workwear Express, you know you are backed by one of the most respected groups in the world.

What makes me most proud, though, is what happens inside our walls. In Durham, we have built Europe’s largest customised workwear and fulfilment centre. 150,000 square feet of embroidery, print, transfer, warehousing, and logistics under one roof. Alongside our teams in Manchester, Leicester, and the West Midlands, we have created a set-up that blends local care with national scale.

A building is just bricks and machines. It is the 300 plus colleagues who bring it all to life that matter most. I see the pride they take in every garment that leaves our factory, whether it is a single uniform for a local tradesperson or tens of thousands of items for one of the UK’s largest employers. Their skill, dedication, and attention to detail are what make Workwear Express what it is today.

We are trusted by some of the country’s biggest and most complex brands, and we never forget the smaller businesses too. The electricians, landscapers, cafés, charities. Every customer, big or small, deserves the same level of service and care. That has been true since day one, and it always will be. In fact, each week more companies of all sizes choose Workwear Express than anyone else in our industry — a responsibility we take seriously and a trust we work hard to earn every single day.

If you need help, have feedback, or want to share an idea, you can contact me directly at Steven@workwearexpress.com. I make this commitment personally: I will reply to every email I receive. Accountability matters to me. If something is not right, I want to know. If you think we can do something better, I want to hear it. Praise, complaints, big ideas, small fixes. All welcome.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Whether you have been with us for years or you are just discovering us now, we are here to help you, and your business succeed.

From One to One Million: Workwear at Scale

At Workwear Express, we deliver a complete end-to-end service for businesses of every size. Our 150,000 sq. ft production facilities in Durham bring embroidery, print, heat transfer and garment finishing together under one roof, supported by fulfilment centres that ship thousands of orders every day.

With more than 200,000 products available, we provide everything from bespoke uniforms and large-scale managed contracts to promotional clothing and one-off customised items.

This unique combination of UK manufacturing, advanced technology and nationwide distribution means we can meet the scale that major brands demand while maintaining the personal service and reliability that smaller businesses value.

At Workwear Express, technology drives every stage of our service. For businesses with large numbers of wearers, we provide an industry-leading automated ordering portal, designed to make uniform management simple, efficient and fully controlled. Linked directly to our 150,000 sq. ft production facilities in Durham, the system connects ordering, customisation and fulfilment in one seamless process.

With access to over 200,000 products, companies can manage complex uniform requirements across multiple sites with ease, while ensuring brand consistency and cost control. From set allocations and personalised wearer packs to secure next-day delivery, our technology ensures the right clothing reaches the right person, every time.

A Great Place to Work, Built for the Future

Behind every order, every garment and every delivery are our people. With more than 300 colleagues in Durham and across the UK, Workwear Express has been officially recognised as a Great Place to Work in 2023, 2024 and 2025. That recognition reflects our culture: one built on teamwork, development and pride in what we do. Our colleagues are at the centre of our success, and their skills, commitment and innovation are what make our service stand out.

We’re equally committed to sustainability. As part of Bunzl plc, we are aligned with a clear, science-based approach to reducing environmental impact. At Workwear Express, that means investing in lower-impact fabrics, reducing waste in production, improving packaging and working with our customers to design uniforms that last longer and perform better. The goal is simple: to deliver outstanding service and quality clothing while doing the right thing for people and the planet.
