Sony Evolution Studios - Case Study

The Introduction

Founded in 1999 by Martin Kenwright and Ian Hetherington, Evolution Studios has quickly become one of the premier British video game developer companies, so much so that they were acquired by Sony in 2007. With significant experience in producing a range of racing video games, the company was chosen to lead the line with one of the highly touted games for the new generation PlayStation 4 console with the release of DriveClub.

The Requirements

Workwear Express were approached by Sony Evolution Studios in 2013 to produce a number of printed t-shirts that will be used as part of the promotional campaign in the run-up to the release of the DriveClub video game. The games' developers required the t-shirts to have a colour scheme which effectively related to the game, denoting different colours for different designs, while also containing printed designs which effectively communicated the concept of the game; speed. They also needed the t-shirts producing in time for the various promotional events they had scheduled.

The End Product

Workwear Express selected a range of printed t-shirts that contained the specific colours that Sony Evolution Studios were looking for. Our artwork department then placed each of the different designs the company had provided on to a digital representation of the t-shirts. These were then sent through to the company for approval. Once printed, each of the t-shirts were placed through an industrial drier to ensure a perfect, long-lasting application before being packaged and delivered to their premises in Runcorn, Cheshire. Sony Evolution Studios were very happy with the t-shirts and so were the fans with a second order for more t-shirts being placed later that same year.
