Formed in 1889, Gateshead FC and their devoted fans have had plenty of ups and downs over the years, no more so than when the club was liquidated in 1973. Since then The Heed have gained a new lease of life, shooting up the lower leagues of northern football to eventually reach the Conference Premier. In the 2013/2014 season, they were looking to go one further and reach the coveted Football League as they took on Cambridge United in the Conference Playoff Final.
As part of the big day, Gateshead FC approached us to create a number of t-shirts and polo shirts that would be worn by fans young and old as they descended on Wembley to cheer on The Tynesiders. The club required a selection of t-shirts containing two different designs and a number of polo shirts with the Gateshead FC logo on the left breast. Due to the number of fans who were receiving the t-shirts, it was important to have a variety of sizes to provide a comfortable fit for everyone.
Workwear Express created design boards showing how the printed t-shirts would look as well as producing a swatch containing the embroidered logo that was to go on the polo shirts. This was taken away to show the members of Gateshead FC to gain approval prior to creating the garments. Once approval was given the garments were produced in the fastest possible turnaround and delivered to the required address with plenty of time to spare before the big day got under way.
