Greggs case study

Greggs PLC is the largest retail bakery chain in the United Kingdom. Since its humble beginning as a Tyneside bakery over 70 years ago they now sell to a million customers a day through 1,500 stores.

The Brief

Greggs needed a uniform for their 14,000 plus staff across the UK. The uniform brief was to portray a professional and consistent image whilst being suitable for use in the individual department’s conditions (bakery, retail, transport or cold store).

Due to the large volume of staff, uniform ordering needed to be a simple and efficient process which can be controlled by central personnel but used by individual branches.

The Solution

From the initial brief we took part in project meetings and wearer trials to ensure the bespoke design of the uniforms would meet their needs.

Once ready to launch the new uniform we setup Greggs on our Managed Contract service which includes a dedicated account manager, assigned warehouse staff, next day delivery to store and a bespoke online account management system. The online system allows individual branches and departments to order uniforms to their needs and head office to access a wealth of information and remain in control.

Workwear Express has been dealing with Greggs since 2005 and we are now onto the third incarnation of their uniform.
