We are unique in our industry in that we provide a full service, whether you are a large company looking for a complete uniform service or looking for promotional clothing and leisurewear.


Our story began in 1990 when I started selling work clothing to the trade and public from the back of a van. I bought an old Mercedes van with money saved from working on a market stall, filled it with work boots and overalls and travelled around the building sites and businesses of the north east. Then on weekends, I would sell my stock at markets and agricultural shows. My ambition was to make enough money to create a professional business with it’s own premises.

After a few years of working 7 days a week I finally managed to open my first premises in the town of Crook, Co. Durham. I also bought a second van and eventually made enough money to buy an old embroidery machine. This led me into the Uniform and Promotional Clothing trade as businesses, schools and other clubs & associations asked me to add their logos to the clothing that I supplied them. Over the following years we moved to larger premises four times and continued investing as much as possible in new machinery, IT systems and staff.

Here we are today, 23 years later with a purpose built 28,000 sq. ft. factory in Durham City employing over 80 staff. We now supply over 6,000 off the shelf products as well as a bespoke manufactured service. Our extensive and varied customer base consists of over 50,000 clients across the UK and overseas which is currently growing at a rate of over 1,300 per month. We would very much like to add you to this list.

In case you are wondering, I still work in the business every day myself, helping my management team and staff deliver the first rate service that fuels our growth. Facilities and Services

The purpose built factory and offices here at Workwear Express, where we provide a comprehensive printed clothing and embroidered clothing service, is over 28,000 square foot and contains state-of-the-art machinery. As a leading printed clothing company and embroidered clothing company our facility contains the best machinery in the industry. The printed clothing part of the company has a brand new 12 colour M & R Sportsman as well as an 8 colour M & R Sportsman and a manual machine, which allows us to print over 40,000 garments per week. The embroidered clothing part of the company has the latest Tajima embroidery machines, allowing us to produce over 60,000 embroidered garments per week.

We also offer, as part of our Managed Accounts department, services such as Bespoke Design, our efficient Online Account Management facilty and your own dedicated Account Manager.
